What are competencies? 

Before getting a job employers use competencies to determine whether you have the skills and knowledge required to fill the role they want you to.

A competency is the ability, knowledge and skills you have developed as, a person. It is built by your experiences in life, your work experiences, the situations you have faced with people and what you learnt and understood in those moments. Is it not?

The core importance of any competency is to stay consistent, this is the only way we can see and improve as an individual or group. Understanding your competencies will prevent you from making very bad choices or making wrong decisions.

How do we measure someone's competencies? 

Different companies follow different methods of competency development.

1. People management

4. Logical Reasoning 

5. Technical Competencies

  3. To use a fair and unbiased approach we need to make sure we know what the business challenges are and the skills required to manage them. Next, an individual will always come with their own strengths and weaknesses even though the norm is to have a one size fits all approach to training and development - I strongly belive that we need to take a more individualized approach to it. But I am trying to work on how scalable this will be - here is where coaching come to the picture.
